Faith Dedications: Mercer is a member of First Baptist Church of Bolivar, and is a substitute Sunday School teacher.
Educational and Professional Background: Mercer graduated from SBU in 1971, went to Southern Seminary in Louisville and graduated with a Masters in Religious Education in 1973, then on to University of Louisville and graduated with a Masters in Social Work in 1974. She worked for various Baptist children's homes (North Carolina and Kentucky) from 1974 - 1978. And began her teaching career in 1978 at Asbusy College where she taught social work. Mercer came to SBU in 1986 and has been teaching here since. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
