Twelve (12) realms of the world: Europe, Russia, North America, Middle America, South America, Subsaharan Africa, North Africa/Southwest Asia, South Asia, East Asia, Southeast Asia, Austral, and Pacific.

Aims:

1. To gain geographic literacy.

2. To learn the basic concepts and terminology of this discipline.

3. To have knowledge of location plus the physical, cultural, economic, and political traits of individual states within a region and realm.

These will be accomplished through reading of the textbook/study guide, map construction, macro-analysis of a state, and series of objective examinations.

Class Requirements:

1. "Interesting State" - Assignment: Five (5) total assignments worth 25 pts each for a total of 125 points possible.  Choose one (1) state within one (1) region and realm within EACH of the five (5) units of study as outlined in this course. In each assignment you must:

* present a minimum of one (1) single spaced page using 12pt font (nothing smaller or larger).
* write in complete sentences.
* work within the PDF document space guidelines and save assignment in either Microsoft Word 2003 or 2007.

Secure all the maps in a folder and place a cover sheet on the maps. The coversheet indicates both course title and your full name.
