Ronda Credille, PhD.
Bolivar, MO 65613
Education and professional background: Wright graduated from SBU with a B.A. degree in 2005 and then received a J.D. in 2009 from the University of Missouri – School of Law. Prior to coming to SBU, Wright worked as a civil litigation attorney at a law firm in Columbia, Mo., specializing in real estate and property law. Wright began teaching at SBU in 2012 and teaches courses in the areas of microeconomics, macroeconomics, personal finance, money and banking, international economics and finance, and insurance. His main area of research interest is the interaction between government action and the economy, particularly the utility of government intervention and regulation in the market.
Family: Wright has been married to his wife, Amanda, since 2005. She is also an SBU graduate and taught kindergarten in the Missouri public schools for 8 years. They are now foster parents to three young boys, which keeps them very busy!
Community involvement: Wright is an active member of First Baptist Church, Bolivar, and helps with the college ministry there. He also serves as the faculty advisor for SBU’s Enactus team, which provides many opportunities for students to partner with local businesses in the Bolivar area.
Why did you choose to teach at SBU? “I am passionate about SBU and what it has to offer to students. In addition to my wife and I being SBU graduates, my brother, my sister, my mom, my dad, my uncle, my aunt, and several of my cousins are SBU graduates. To me, teaching at SBU is truly a dream job!”
What sets SBU apart from other universities? “The first thing is the Christian environment. I love that SBU is unapologetically a Christ-centered university. We also have amazing students who are passionate about learning and who challenge me and challenge each other daily. Another aspect in which SBU is unique is in the faculty-student interaction. In our college, you will get to know your professors. The faculty in our college work with our students outside the classroom on a regular basis. In just over a year at SBU, I have already developed such strong bonds with students and I know that will continue in the years to come.”
What advice do you have for prospective students? “My best advice is to do your research prior to making a college choice. If you have questions about our program, please call me, text me, e-mail me, tweet me @nathancwright, get in contact with me in any possible way. I love meeting with prospective students, so schedule a trip to Bolivar and stop by to meet me and I will share my passion for SBU with you. Secondly, get involved in the wide range of activities we have available on campus. I would especially encourage you to join our Enactus team, which in 2013 is among the top 8 Enactus teams in the country!”
What is your favorite thing to do in Bolivar/Southwest Missouri? “I love going to SBU sporting events and cheering on the Bearcats. I also love attending SBU theatre productions, concerts, and other events on campus.”
