Transfer Student Policy
The following policy for transfer student was approved by the University during the Spring 2006 semester. Transfer students who are interested in applying for the program use the same application as first-time freshmen.
Applicants who are transfer students will be considered for admittance into the University Honors Program if they meet the following qualifications:
- ACT score of 28 or higher; SAT score of 1240 or higher
- Transfer GPA of 3.5 or higher
- Complete and submit the Honors Program Application
- Complete an Interview and the Writing Component for the University Honors Program
- A maximum of 45 transfer hours
Transfer students who are accepted into the program will be required to meet all four components of the Honors Program; however, the academic component is altered for transfer students.
The Academic Component for Transfer students is as follows:
- Two semesters of HON 3771 Honors Colloquium (1 hour each semester)
- HON 4771 Capstone Experience (1-3 hours)
- Honors
elective (one course chosen from the following):
HON 2213 Honors Fundamentals of Speech Communication
HON 1123 Honors Composition
HON 2003 Honors L.I.F.E. Economics - If a student transfers courses equivalent to FAR 1003, UNI 1111 or UNI 1121, then the student is not required to take the honors version of these courses. However, if any of these courses are not transferred, then the HON version of the remaining coursework is required.
Transfer honors students will be required to complete the other Honors components (servant leadership, spiritual, intercultural). Activities from previous institutions may be considered in fulfilling these components. Appropriate documentation will be required.
