Why do you enjoy teaching at SBU? "I was attracted by the feeling of "family" and oneness of spirit at SBU. This is a wonderful place to work and live and I am honored and blessed to be a part of this 'family'."

Educational and Professional Background: Hopwood earned a Bachelor of Music Education at Oral Roberts University, in Tulsa, Oklahoma; a Master of Music Education from the University of Colorado, in Boulder, Colorado; a Diploma of the Faculty Fine Arts in Music (specialization: Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble Conducting and Literature) from the University of Calgary, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada; and a Doctor of Musical Arts (specialization: Instrumental Music) from Arizona State University, in Tempe, Arizona. Hopwood has 27 years of teaching experience in the public schools of Colorado, the last 23 years at Manitou Springs High School, in Manitou Springs, Colorado.

Faith dedications: Hopwood attends First Baptist Church in Bolivar, Missouri where he plays the trumpet in the orchestra.
