Degree Programs
All music degrees at Southwest Baptist University provide a choice of concentration areas and certificate options, and include private instruction,and performance experience in the student's primary performance area (instrumental, keyboard or vocal).
The department of music offers the following degrees:
- Bachelor of Music in Music Education
- Bachelor of Music in Church Music
- Bachelor of Music with Elective Studies in an Outside Field
- Bachelor of Science in Music
While completing the requirements for the chosen degree, the student has the option of earning certificates which document advanced study and achievement in the areas of performance and/or piano pedagogy:
Performer's Certificate
Earning this certificate provides concentrated training and performance experiences for students who demonstrate superior performance ability, and it is considered as preparation for graduate school or a performing career.
Piano Pedagogy Certificate
Earning this certificate provides piano students with courses in piano teaching, literature and supervised teaching experience as preparation for a career in piano teaching.
