Clara Fuson String Quartet
The Clara Fuson String Quartet was established to give four gifted string musicians the opportunity to play together.
They are named Clara Fuson after a wonderful lady who loved music and the Lord. The Clara Fuson String Quartet plays many weddings, concerts and banquets for SBU and others.
Some words from Clara Fuson's pastor, Rev. Michael Olmsted:
"Clara Fuson was one of the charter members of University Heights Baptist Church in Springfield, Missouri. She was a school teacher and trained violinist who played in the Springfield Symphony for many years.
She was an innovator who developed a graded choir program to encourage children to appreciate music and to offer praise from the earliest age, and her program influenced many other churches across the nation to develop music programs for children. She also developed a handbell choir for her church.
Clara was a deeply committed Christian who was an encourager, especially for young people. She could entertain by playing both classical violin pieces and songs like 'Turkey in the Straw.' She was a serious musician, and also lots of fun."
