Our Mission: SBU’s Student Association consists of an elected body of students who are given the responsibility of representing the desires and interests of the entire student body to the university administration. Eligibility requirements for joining SA can be found in the SA Constitution. Students may run for class officer positions or at large positions to represent the entire Student Body. SA has weekly meetings that are open to all SBU students.
Duties of the President: The Student Body President shall be the chief liaison between the Student Association Association and the Administration of SBU.
Duties of the Vice-President: In case of the removal of the President from office or of his death or resignation, the Vice President shall become President. Additionally, the Vice -President shall have power to nominate individuals to fill any vacancies that may occur in the Senate; and such appointed members of the Senate shall remain in office until the next election.
Duties of the Treasurer: The Treasurer is responsible for maintaining an official record of all Student Association expenditures and for all monies collected by the Student Association. Moreover, the Treasurer shall be responsible for maintaining accurate and updated records of all receipts and disbursements of the Student Association Association. The Treasurer shall serve as the Chairperson of the Budget and Finance Committee.
Duties of the Secretary: The Secretary shall be responsible for collecting records of the proceedings of all branches of the Student Association. The Secretary shall also be responsible for maintaining a roster of all current members of the Student Association and verifying their eligibility to serve. Lastly, the Secretary shall serve as the chairperson of the Elections Committee.
