Dr. Gordon Dutile, Provost
Gordon Dutile came to Southwest Baptist University in fall 1980 to teach Greek and New Testament as a member of the faculty of The Courts Redford College of Theology and Ministry. From 1986-1996 he served the Redford College as acting or associate dean. In 1995 he was appointed associate provost and served in that capacity until 1999 when he became acting provost. He was named provost at Southwest Baptist University in January 2000.
Prior to coming to SBU, Dutile served as associate pastor of Rosen Heights Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas, from 1971-1980. Before moving to Texas in 1970 to attend Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, he worked for McDonnell-Douglas Aircraft Corporation as a senior electronics engineer. A native of Natchitoches, La., he has a B.S. in electrical engineering from Louisiana Tech University (1963), an M.Div. (1973) and a Ph.D (1980) from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Dutile and his wife Judy have been married 41 years. They have two children and two grandchildren.
