Kevin Schriver
Dr. Kevin Schriver was part of a team of medical and allied health professionals (doctors, nurses, physical therapists and psychologists), who went to the Evangelical University of El Salvador. The goal of this meeting was to make contacts with professionals in their country to help give an example of how Christianity and that field / discipline might be integrated in the professional's life and work.
Their country is certainly in need of good crisis counseling and psychotherapy, because of their location for earthquakes, volcanos, and hurricanes. Family therapy from a Christian perspective was also helpful, in large part, because the country is mostly Catholic, but an evangelical influence in marital and family relationships would continue to strengthen the family unit.
Finally, the Christian Psychology and Plan for Life presentations were mostly for the purposes of helping professionals really understand that integration of faith into their work and for the benefits of their clients is possible. In most Latin American countries, they have a real separation of their religious, private lives and their public, work lives. This was an attempt to improve that discussion and aspect of professional psychology in that country.
