SBU Graduate Education Cohorts

Program Information

  • Enrolling now for spring 2017! Courses begin the week of January 3.
  • Enroll in elective courses (Plus hours) by calling (417) 328-1700. (You can view available elective courses within the Graduate Education class schedule.)
  • Degrees are offered in fully online or hybrid formats. Check out the map for cohort locations to take classes in-person.
  • Aurora cohort is now forming. Request information — Please write "Aurora" in the "Cohort Name" box on the form.
  • Educational Administration K-12 certification courses are now offered in Springfield, Mo., at the SBU Springfield campus, with the first rotation beginning October 18. Request more information or call Todd Earl at (417) 328-1843.

Admissions Process

1) Inquire

Let us know who you are and your interests, and we will be in contact with you to help you begin your graduate education journey.

2) Apply

Fill out the application for the program of your interest and send us your transcripts and test scores.

Note: The application fee is waived for all SBU alumni!

Minimum Admissions REquirements

  • Undergraduate GPA of 2.75+
  • Missouri Teaching Certificate, Passing Praxis II score, or Passing GRE score
  • Other specific requirements as needed for the Master of Science in Education - Educational Administration, Education Specialist, and Doctor of Education degrees

3) Enroll

Once you have been admitted to SBU's graduate education program and are ready to sign up for classes, submit the online Enrollment Form. You will need to know the course number, course section and course title for each course in which you wish to enroll.

Courses are typically scheduled in eight-week rotations, providing greater flexibility for students wishing to begin graduate education programs. Upcoming course rotations will begin in March, June and July.

4) Tuition and fees

5) Submit for financial Aid

To receive any financial aid for which you may qualify, submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). SBU's recommended deadline for submitting the FAFSA is March 15. If you have questions about financial aid for graduate students, please call (417) 328-1822.

6) Purchase Textbooks

After enrolling in courses, you may purchase any needed textbooks online through the SBU Bookstore. Use the course numbers to look up which books are required for each course.
