Courses Taught: Undergraduate: Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Managerial Economics, Money and Banking, Personal Financial Planning, Insurance and Risk Management, Financial Derivatives, International Economics and Special Topics in Economics/Finance.

Current Research Projects: Bethards is currently working on his dissertation to fulfill the requirements for a doctorate in business administration. The topic of the dissertation is to determine whether emotional intelligence plays a role in the performance of the individual investor.

Why I enjoy teaching at SBU? “First, this is my alma mater; therefore, I have a strong attachment to the institution. Furthermore, I enjoy being a part of a strong business program that allows for and encourages the integration of Christian faith in teaching the subject matter.”

Educational and Professional Background: Bethards received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Economics from Southwest Baptist University, and he received his MBA from Southwest Missouri State University. Currently, Bethards is ABD in completion of his doctorate in Business Administration at Anderson University in Anderson, Indiana.

Bethards has previous experience as an investment advisor, commodities broker, and mutual funds representative.

Faith Dedications: Bethards and his family attend Wellspring Fellowship in Bolivar, Missouri. He assists in teaching a college-age Sunday school class.

Interests and Hobbies: Golf, fishing, racquetball, woodworking.
