Career Management

THIRD YEAR ~ LEARN (How To's)m (Junior)

Customize your resume. You should not use the same resume for each job title pursued. Always take into consideration the organization and its 5 and 10 year growth strategies.
Develop a list of at least 15 organizations where you would like to be employed. Research each organization and determine how your strengths fit with the organization's goals.
Search job availability through NACElink Connect and College Central Network.
Call organizations and ask for an Information Interview. This is where you ask specific questions related to the day-to-day life of a person in a specific career.
Attend career fairs and ask more questions. Keep adding to your career file information. Ask if the organizations have summer internships. If so, ask how you might apply.
Develop a one minute verbal commercial that will reinforce for the listener what you can do for their organization and how your past experiences relate to the job description.
Complete your Placement File which should include three to five references and turn it in to Career Services.
Review your resume to discover if you have new information to add or if you have another reference person to add.
Ask Career Services personnel to review your resume for any new suggestions on how to customize your resume to a specific job title and/or organization.
