Resources Available

Self-Directed Search
Assists students in evaluating their career interests.  Based on a summary of your interests, a Holland code will be generated that allows you to target careers that match your interests.  Free.  Appointment is necessary.

Missouri Occupational Card Sort
An assessment that helps clarify the student's interests, values and skills.  Student will sort occupational cards into stacks that incorporate specific characteristics important in a career.  This helps to identify themes and allows the student to rank values and skills.  Free.  Appointment is necessary.

Experiential Learning
Students can obtain information about internships and cooperative education.  This type of experience can help confirm a career choice.  It will also give students an "edge" in their upcoming job search.  Information is provided about available internships and cooperative education opportunities as well as guidelines for setting up these types of programs with a specific company of your choice.

Resource Library
Business Files - Specific job titles, job descriptions, and annual reports are available. 

Occupational Outlook Handbook- provides detailed information on occupations, salary outlook, training, and education requirements.

Resume Writing
Information is available on resumes, references, cover letters and thank you letters.  Students can discuss their resumes and receive feedback.  Appointment is necessary.
Web sites that provide information about building an effective resume.  Sample resumes are also provided.

Job Interview
College Grad

Career Placement File
Established during the junior or early part of the senior year.  This file includes a resume and three to five references.  Upon your request, your file will be mailed to two prospective employers or graduate schools at no charge.  Three dollars will be charged for each additional file mailed.
 Files may be faxed at cost per page.
