CLEP
To be eligible to receive credit by examination you must not have earned more than 32 hours of university credit for the CLEP exam for a bachelor's degree, 16 hours of credit for the CLEP exam for an associate's degree, or 90 hours for the subject exam.  Also, you may not have college hours in the subject for which credit is requested.  The general fee information, beginning July 1, for 2009-10 is:

  • CLEP fee: $72.00 (check, money order, or major credit card)
  • University service fee:  $15.00 (check, cash or major credit card)
  • Transcription fee:   $35.00 per credit hour

All fees are subject to change yearly.

The CLEP fee and service fee are two separate payments and are collected the day of the testing by Career Services.

CLEP fee checks should be made payable to College-Level Examination Program and university service fees should be made payable to Southwest Baptist University.  The SBU transcription rate for a course bypassed with Credit by Examination is $35.00 per credit hour.
