Draper is a native of Springfield, Mo., and earned a B.S. in Music Education and performer’s certificate from Southwest Missouri State University and a Master of Music in flute performance from Arkansas State University. In addition, she has received a flute repair certification from the Vermont Guild of Flute Making, where she studied under Jonathon Landell, master flute maker.
Previously, Mrs. Draper has held the position of acting principal flutist with the Springfield Symphony Orchestra and has performed with the Chamber Orchestra of the Ozarks and the Northeast Arkansas Symphony. She served on the faculty of the Missouri Fine Arts Academy and was the instrumental music director for the Springfield Catholic Schools.
Mrs. Draper currently has her own large private studio, is a flute repair technician and performs regularly with many local venues including the Springfield Symphony Orchestra, Springfield Regional Opera, Fort Smith Arkansas Symphony, Springfield Little Theater and the Second Baptist Church orchestra.
She is married to her husband, Scott, who is a social studies teacher at Pipkin Middle School in Springfield. They have two sons, Jared and Jaden.
