Educational and Professional Background: A native of Levasy, Mo., Mrs. Bruner earned a Bachelor of Music in Clarinet Performance from Indiana State University, a Master of Music from the University of Illinois, and a Master of Science in Management from Webster University. She also completed a post baccalaureate teacher’s certification program at Missouri State University.  She has taught students from elementary to college and adults. Mrs. Bruner spent a large portion of her professional career in the Marines and Air Force, performing clarinet and saxophone with bands located on the East Coast, in Japan and Europe.  Her military career included serving in such positions as training manager, tour director and director of band operations. She also was assigned for three years at Air Force Headquarters at the Pentagon as Superintendent of Air Force Bands and Music. Her career culminated as band manager for the United States Air Forces in Europe Band and the Band of Liberty in Massachusetts before she retired in 2002. Additionally, Mrs. Bruner has performed with Terre Haute Symphony, Illinois Opera Theater at Krannert Center for the Performing Arts, Champaign-Urbana Symphony and the University of Missouri-Rolla Civic Orchestra. She remains active in the area performing on clarinet and saxophone and is currently an on-call performer for the Springfield Symphony Orchestra as well as co-principal clarinetist with the Springfield-Drury Civic Orchestra.

Faith Dedications: Mrs. Bruner attends Faith Lutheran Church in Springfield and is a board member for the Lutheran Student Center located near the campus of Missouri State University.
