RN to BSN Program Information
Web-based BSN Completion Program
The BSN degree is a total of 128 credit hours. The 36 required credit hours of nursing courses are 100% online. The supporting and general courses are partially online and some are in a traditional classroom format.
The nursing courses in the BSN completion program are delivered online, allowing students to access their course work and participate in their classes anywhere they have an Internet connection. The majority of the nursing courses are offered through an online web-enhanced environment.
The BSN nursing classes are offered in a block format with a variety of time frames ideal for the non-traditional, working nursing student. The Web-based block format offers greater flexibility for working nurses with busy schedules.
Why pursue a BSN?
With a retiring RN workforce on the horizon, now more than ever, health professions are looking for RNs with four year and advanced degrees to lead nursing and health care into the new millennium. A bachelor of science in nursing degree can open doors to management, leadership, teaching, and special certification positions. In addition the 2010 Institute of Medicine “The Future of Nursing Report: Leading Change, Advancing Health” emphasizes the need for nurses to continue their education past their associate degree. This report recommends 80 % of the nursing workforce be baccalaureate prepared by 2020.
