ASN Registered Nurse Career Opportunities
According to the Occupational Outlook Handbook, job opportunities for RNs are expected to grow faster than the average for all occupations through 2010, and because the occupation is very large, many new jobs will result. Thousands of job openings also will result from the need to replace experienced nurses who leave the occupation, especially as the median age of the registered nurse population continues to rise.
A wide variety of career opportunities are available in nursing. The RN is not limited to the hospital setting and may choose to specialize in a specific area, travel, teach or work in research.
Average Wage: The middle 50% of RNs earn between $34,430 and $63,000 a year.
