Current Research Projects: After the publication of his book, Divine Apology (2002), Dr. Miller has continued to explore and write about the relationship between faith and public rhetoric, particularly the spiritual dimensions of public and private apologies.

Why do you enjoy teaching at SBU? I enjoy integrating the worlds of faith and academics. Our students have a tremendous capacity for God and knowledge.

Faith Dedications: Dr. Miller is currently a member of First United Methodist Church in Springfield, where he regularly teaches youth and adult classes, sings in the choir, and assists with the alternative worship service. He is also a regular speaker at area churches.

Educational and Professional Background: English, B.A. and Communication, M.A. from Southwest Missouri State University; and Communication, Ph.D. from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Dr. Miller is very involved in civic organizations and public advocacy in the Springfield area, where he taught and coached high school speech and debate for 10 years.

Hobbies and Interests: Remodeling his old house, writing, playing and recording music with his folk-rock group Mincks & Miller, and spending time with his wife and two teenage daughters.
