Steven Kretzer, SBU Communication Alumnus

I am currently an attorney in private practice at a small Plaintiff’s oriented law firm in Jefferson City, Missouri.

As an attorney, I am constantly asked to evaluate both sides of an issue and be able to articulate an accurate and concise response.  Additionally I am required to engage in oral and written advocacy on a daily basis.  Understanding the process of communication from sender to receiver helps me in virtually every aspect in my profession.  Learning how to be diplomatic in those communications is also essential to resolving issues in a timely and efficient manner.  My studies as a communications major have helped me find career success, satisfaction and once and a while a little bit of enjoyment.

A communication degree is a doorway to a multitude of professions, whether you pursue education beyond a bachelor’s degree or not.  Regardless your ultimate choice of professions, a communication degree is one of the few degrees that will help you wherever you land in life.
