Current Research
Wei's esearch is mostly aimed at biodefense and bacterial combat-wound infections, cross-disciplinary in nature over microbiology, molecular biology, bacteriology, immunology, cell biology, proteomics and biophysics. The projects relate to 1) Cross-disciplinary nano/sensor technologies in detection of bacterial weapons (DNA of Bacillus anthracis) of mass destruction and in characterization of interaction of a Acinetobacter baumannii protein with a human extracellular matrix protein; 2) Pseudomonas biofilms, vesiculation and SOS response to antibacterial treatment; 3) Multidrug-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii; and 4) Inter-disciplinary—can bacteria evolve anticancer phenotypes.
