Katie Murphy, Biology Alumnus
"I am currently taking the year off ..... well kind of, my baby was born this summer. I'm enjoying raising him. Last year, I taught Chemistry at Manhattan High School, in Manhattan, Kansas. I taught Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Physical Science for two years in Arlington, South Dakota. I also taught Biology, Microbiology, Anatomy & Ecology for one year in Lone Jack, Missouri. I completed the masters program in Science Education from Montana State University in 2004. My biology degree from SBU helped prepare me to teach in a variety of science fields during the past five years. The solid science course of study enabled me to step right into the teaching profession. The caring educators found at SBU also demonstrated how to show Christ's love to students while encouraging them to learn. Current students, go for a biology degree! There are so many different avenues that this degree can open up for you, teaching is just my favorite. Take a variety of classes in the field, you never know what you will find fascinating until you try it."
