Current Research: I'm involved with an ongoing study comparing preservice candidates' ACT scores and the aptitude to successfully complete four-year plans.
Why do you enjoy teaching at SBU? I enjoy being involved in preparing preservice candidates to teach. SBU preservice teachers have had a core of education classes along with the course work required to be competent in their field. I find it rewarding to be a part of the process that provides classroom competence and quality instruction for the P-12 learning community.
Educational and Professional Background: I received my BA degree in English with teaching credentials in 1972 from Southwest Baptist College. I returned later to complete my MS degree in education in 2000. I have taught high school English in Independence, MO; Springfield, MO; and Bolivar, MO. In past years I taught Composition I for SBU and am currently serving as Certification Officer and Clinical Experiences Coordinator.
Faith Dedication: I consider it a privilege to teach at a university that fulfills its mission of being both distinctly Christian and a Baptist institution. I am a member of First Baptist Church, Bolivar, but frequently travel with my husband when he serves area churches in his music ministry.
