Current Research: Hollis is currently supervising all research projects for students in the Master of Science in Instructional Technology Leadership program at SBU.
Why do you enjoy working at SBU? " I enjoy working at SBU for multiple reasons. I really enjoy the fellowship I have with my colleagues. The support and encouragement I receive from them makes each day a good day to go to work. I also enjoy the satisfaction of seeing students accomplish their academic goals. It gives me a lot of pleasure to watch our graduate students walk across the stage at graduation to receive their hoods and diplomas."
Educational and Professional Background: Hollis earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Oklahoma State University in 1971 in Health, Physical Education and Recreation and began his teaching career in 1974 after serving in the Air Force. He earned a Master of Science degree in Education from the University of Central Oklahoma in 1978, and a Ph.D. at the University of Oklahoma in 1986.
During those years, he taught Junior High and High School Biology, served as the state director of comprehensive health education at the Oklahoma State Department of Education. He also taught at Oklahoma State University, and served as a Middle School principal. He came to SBU in 1995 as the director of teacher education for the Moutain View campus and became the director of graduate studies in education in 1997.
Faith Dedications: Currently, Hollis and his wife are members of the First Baptist Church of Bolivar, Missouri. He and his wife teach Sunday School for engaged and newly married couples (Bride & Groom class). Since Hollis came to SBU, he has served as interim pastor at First Baptist Church, Birch Tree and interim music director at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Lebanon, Missouri.
