Scholarships
These are available to students with concentrated talents in specific areas. SBU offers the following types of scholarships:
There are also private scholarships available for you to apply for as well. You are also encouraged to apply for outside scholarships.
Need-based grants
There are a number of need-based grants available based on your financial need. These grants require no repayment. Examples of need-based grants include the Missouri C. Gallagher Grant and Pell Grants which are awarded by state or federal governments to students.
Work study
Work study allows you to "earn as you learn." Your job will be on or near campus. You will arrange your work hours around your class schedule.
Loans
Students can take advantage of numerous loan opportunities which require repayment, typically six months following graduation. Loans for students are available through the federal government regardless of credit history or current finances. Parents may also borrow through the federal government or through private lenders provided that they qualify.
