Student Policies
Southwest Baptist University is unapologetically a Christian institutiion. The continuing commitment of the University is to maintain its heritage, which is founded upon Biblical precepts.

While being a Christian is not a prerequisite for enrollment at SBU, it is to be understood that each student attending SBU agrees to live by the principles, guidelines and expectations, which are part of what makes the University distinctly Christian (as outlined in the university catalog and student handbook). Each student, staff member and faculty member is expected to act with integrity at all times, to live a morally pure life, to refrain from the use of alcohol, tobacco or illegal drugs, and to respect the rights and the property of others.

The following requirements apply to all degree-seeking students:

  • Students will attend chapel services twice each week.
  • Students will take eight hours of Bible and discipleship courses in order to graduate.
  • Non-commuting students are required to live in university housing until age 21 and have accumulated 90+ college hours.
