Meet Josh Schnelle

Major: Intercultural Studies and Nursing, Class of 2012

Why did you choose SBU?  What had the biggest impact on your decision?

There were two main reasons I chose SBU.  One was that SBU is a Christian College, and the other is that they are big on missions.  SBU being very mission-minded had the biggest impact on my decision to attend SBU.

Can you describe the classroom environment?  What has the coursework been like in your classes?

Most classes are pretty small, usually in the 20-30 range of students, making it easy to ask the professors questions.  The professors are very approachable and always seem willing to take time to talk to you about class work.  Coursework has been rigorous, but I have learned a lot.

What do you like best about SBU?

The thing I like the most about SBU is how nice the people are here.  Faculty and students both are extremely nice.  It has made it easy to make friends.

What are your plans after graduation?

My plans after graduation are to get involved with medical missions in some way, most likely as a full-time missionary.  I would like to use nursing as a tool to reach people who have never heard about Jesus.

Why should other students select SBU?

I really believe students should choose SBU because it is a Christ-centered campus with opportunities to get a great education in many different areas.
