America on the Move is a website devoted to helping you get in to shape and stay in shape. You simply log on, and log your activities. They do the rest.
What's it about?
America on the Move wants you to add 2000 steps a day to your routine and cut 100 calories a day from your diet. You'll start out by logging your activities for three days for which they'll compute your averages. Then you'll try to add 2000 steps a day to your activities. They also give you many options on how to cut 100 calories from each meal you take every day.
Do I need a pedometer?
No, the website has a calculator on it that automatically converts minutes into steps.
Can I do this as a group?
Yes, there will be a group name and id included. You can log on and track your progress and the groups’ progress.
What activities do I need to do?
You can do many of them, anything from washing your car to chopping wood. Numerous activities are listed on the website.
How does it work?
You log on the group page. The first three days will be used to log your normal activity. It is important not to increase your normal output during these days. After three days of logging activity, the computer will figure your averages and allow you to set goals.
What other services does the website offer?
It offers great tips on healthy eating, along with a chart that allows you to see how many calories you can cut by substituting a healthy food for a not so healthy food. It also has great recipe ideas and even cooking videos that will help you eat healthier and cook seasonally.
