Body Composition and BMI Index

 

Body Mass Index (BMI) is a measure of body fat based on height and weight that applies to both adult men and women. 

BMI Categories: 
Underweight= <18.5
Normal Weight= 18.5-24.9
Overweight= 25-29.9
Obesity= BMI of 30 or greater

The limits of BMI include:  It may overestimate body fat in athletes and others who have a muscular build and may underestimate body fat in older persons and others who have lost muscle mass. 

Body fat composition measures how much of a percentage of total weight fat make up a person’s body.
