SBU-Springfield Campus

The Mercy College of Nursing and Health Sciences of Southwest Baptist University, located in Springfield, Mo., offers degree programs in nursing, radiography and health sciences, designed for students to pursue a healthcare education in a Christ-centered environment.

All general education and prerequisite courses are offered on the Springfield campus. The University offers a science incentive program to pre-nursing students. Students who take the prerequisite science coursework through SBU can earn up to $500 per semester of ASN tuition credit, for up to four semesters.

Cost and Financial Aid

Financial assistance through scholarships, federal and state grant programs, student loans and other aid programs is available to students of the Mercy College of Nursing and Health Sciences of SBU. Availability of funding is dependent on your financial need, status and commitment to future employment. To qualify for maximum assistance, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

Once you are admitted to SBU, you will receive an SBU email address and access to the MySBU Admitted Student Portal. You need to check your SBU email address often for important information, especially related to the online process for approving and finalizing your financial aid award.

J.F. Johnson and Charles Sansone and angelina sansone hospital fund nursing educational assistance program

Thanks to the generous donation of the late J.F. Johnson and Charles Sansone and Angelina Sansone Hospital Fund, the Mercy College of Nursing and Health Sciences of SBU is able to provide nursing education assistance to students enrolled in the ASN, BSN and MSN academic programs. This provides assistance with educational expenses for nursing students. (Please note that this is an education assistance program and not a scholarship.)

ASN Science incentive

Pre-nursing students taking all required pre-requisite science courses at Southwest Baptist University are eligible to receive the ASN science incentive award. To qualify, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Meet SBU admissions requirements and be enrolled at SBU
  • Complete the following pre-requisite science sciences with a 3.0 science cumulative GPA
    • BIO 2204 Anatomy & Physiology I
    • BIO 3304 Anatomy & Physiology II
    • BIO 2213 Microbiology
    • CHE 1104 General Chemistry or CHE 1004 Chemistry for Allied Health
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Repeated ASN courses do not apply

Qualifying students will receive $500 per semester for a maximum total of $2,000 per student.

The Southwest Baptist University Office of Financial Aid offers a comprehensive financial assistance program designed to recognize student financial needs and to meet those needs with a combination of university, federal, state and private assistance sources.
